2025 is the third vintage of our Alouette Grenache, a chillable red featuring the highest-toned, palest, and juiciest lots of Grenache from the vintage. Alouette means "lark" in French, with both its English language meanings: the songbird, but also something done spontaneously, or for fun. Learn more on the Tablas blog about how Alouette began and how it has evolved.
Tasting Notes
A pretty, vibrant pale red. The nose is juicy and delightful, with aromas of chaparral, yellow plum, and sweet baking spices. On the palate, plum and dusty wild strawberry notes, complete with fruit, leaves, and flowers. The finish is juicy with refreshing acids and just a little tannic grip. Delicious chilled, or at cellar temperature.

Production Notes
The 2024-25 winter began dry but finished wet, with two-thirds of the winter's precipitation coming in February and March. That late rain delayed budbreak and allowed us to dodge any spring frosts. The summer was warm but rarely hot, with the fewest 100° days since 2011. Harvest began at a normal time frame, but cool temperatures in September and October slowed down harvest. We navigated two early rain events without damage and finished an extended but unhurried harvest in early November. The exceptionally long hangtime and gradual ripening combined to produce fruit with remarkable intensity and noteworthy vibrancy. We believe 2025 has all the hallmarks of a blockbuster year.
The Grenache grapes for this Alouette bottling were 100% grown on our Regenerative Organic Certified™ and biodynamic estate vineyard.
In 2025, we had our second consecutive prolific and outstanding vintage for Grenache. We used it in all our blends, as usual, and made a lovely varietal Grenache that will be bottled and released in 2027. We also identified some of the highest-toned, palest, and juiciest lots of Grenache from the 2025 vintage that we believed would be perfect for chilled, near-term drinking and supplemented these with the highest-toned lots of a few of our other red Rhône grapes. The lots for Alouette were aged in stainless steel tanks until bottling, boxing, and kegging in May 2026.
