Visiting Experience FAQ
We’re delighted to welcome visitors of all backgrounds to our seated tastings, whether you’re new to Rhône wines or a longtime enthusiast. We look forward to hosting you for a guided tasting on our shaded patio or in our tasting room with views into the cellar.
Q: How do tastings at Tablas Creek work?
A: All our tastings are seated tastings in your own dedicated space, either at a private outdoor table or inside at one of our tasting bars. Our wines are presented in flights of three glasses at a time so you can compare, contrast, and find the next wine you'll love.
Q: What makes a tasting at Tablas Creek special?
A: Our tastings are relaxed, educational, and inspired by our dedication to the Rhône tradition and our commitment to regenerative farming. Located adjacent to our winery in the beautiful Adelaida Hills, within the world’s first Regenerative Organic Certified vineyard, our tasting room is the perfect place to discover the stories behind the wines, the vineyards, and the winemaking. Your flight will likely feature several of the nine traditional Rhône grapes we introduced to America. Whether you prefer to dive deep or simply enjoy the wines, we tailor the experience to your level of interest.
Q: Do I need to make a reservation?
A: Advance reservations are recommended, especially during spring and fall weekends, which can fill up several days in advance, to ensure we can provide you with the most attentive experience. Same-day reservations are usually available outside of peak times, and we're always happy to accommodate walk-ins if we have space.
Q: I'm hoping for a last-minute visit. How do I check to see if you have space?
A: For last-minute visits, we encourage you to give us a call at 805.237.1231 x245 so we can prepare for your visit and make your experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Q: How much is a tasting at Tablas Creek Vineyard?
A: Tastings are $25 per person and free for wine club members; one fee is waived per 2-bottle purchase.
Q: Do I need to be a wine connoisseur to enjoy a visit to Tablas Creek?
A: Absolutely not. No prior wine knowledge is needed. Our team is here to guide you at whatever level of curiosity you bring to the table and answer any questions you have.
Q: The maximum size reservation appears to be for 8 people. Can I bring a group larger than 8?
A: Because our tables are built-in and cannot be combined, we ask that you not book two tables in the hopes that they can be placed together. If you’re hoping to visit with a bigger group, we’d love to help; please email us at visit@tablascreek.com so we can explore options together.
Q: Is food available at the Tablas Creek tasting room?
A: While we don’t currently serve food in the tasting room, guests are welcome to enjoy off-premise food in our dedicated picnic areas before or after their tasting. If you let us know when you're making a reservation or upon arrival that you're planning to picnic, we can help make the experience as seamless as possible.
Q: What if high temperatures or rain are forecasted for the day of my outdoor tasting?
A: If adverse weather requires us to suspend outdoor tastings, we will make every effort to move your outdoor tasting to our limited indoor space, and can typically accommodate our guests with advance reservations. We will reach out to you a day or two in advance to walk through the options with you. In these times, our capacity is limited and we apologize that we may not be able to accommodate walk-ins. We do always have someone at the tasting room for pickup and consultation between 10am-5pm daily.
Q: Is the tasting room handicap accessible?
A: ♿ We strive to make Tablas Creek welcoming and accessible for all our guests, and both our patio and our tasting room have accessible seating options. If you'd like an accessible table, just include a note in the “Special Instructions” section of your reservation or email us at visit@tablascreek.com.
Q: What wines will be available during my tasting?
A: We offer a choice of three wine flights that are adjusted seasonally. You may choose from our classic (mixed) flight of white, rosé, and red wines; an all-red wine selection; or a summer flight of mostly whites, with the occasional rosé or chilled red. All our flights include our flagship Esprit de Tablas or Esprit de Tablas Blanc, as well as small-production wines and winery exclusives.
Q: Are you dog-friendly?
A: Well-behaved pets on a leash are welcome for all outdoor tasting reservations. Because of limited indoor space, we ask that groups with pets choose the outdoor patio tasting.
Q: Are you kid-friendly?
A: Absolutely. We ask that groups with kids choose the outdoor patio tasting with dedicated tables, because the indoor bar seating is on high stools and we have found that kids are often uncomfortable. Please include kids (of all ages) in your total guest count.
Q: How much time should I allot for my tasting?
A: Please allow 75–90 minutes for your tasting.
Q: Can we purchase wine after the tasting?
A: Absolutely. Many of the wines you’ll taste are available exclusively at the winery, and our team is happy to help you select favorites to enjoy at home.
Q: How do I cancel my reservation?
A: Plans change, and we understand that the unexpected happens. If you are unable to make your reservation just let us know by giving us a call at 805.237.1231 x245 or by emailing visit@tablascreek.com.
