Human Resources Manager

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team. He or she will be responsible for delivering high-quality employee support; developing, maintaining and coordinating core HR programs; and serving as a primary partner on benefits, onboarding, leaves of absence, and employee engagement initiatives.

Candidates should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, high attention to detail, empathy and professionalism, problem-solving and critical thinking, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to manage confidential information, adaptability, working knowledge of benefits and leave programs, comfort with HR systems and data accuracy, and a collaborative approach to HR service delivery.

In addition to the direct HR skills, the ideal candidate will have comfort with basic winery legal, compliance, and licensing needs, and would be the point person with our consulting specialists in these areas.

Core HR Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-monthly payroll and oversee timecard administration
  • Oversee the onboarding of new hires, including orientation, system and benefits setup, and training
  • Administer employee paid time off, sick leave, and other leaves of absence in compliance with applicable laws and policies
  • Evaluate insurance policy availability, coverage options and costs to obtain excellent insurance coverage for employees and Tablas Creek Vineyard (medical and corporate)
  • Administer Tablas Creek’s employee benefit package, including training and acting as a resource and intermediary to advocate for employees with service providers
  • Coordinate licensing and continuing education (CE) processes for employees
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of employee records across HR systems and platforms
  • Maintain employee HRIS records and electronic personnel records
  • Update and maintain human resources policies and procedures and initiate changes as necessary to ensure compliance with law, corporate policies and business objectives
  • Edit, update, and maintain the Tablas Creek employee manual
  • Maintain internal communications related to benefits, wellness, and policy updates
  • Stay informed on employment laws, leave regulations, and compliance standards, and apply knowledge to everyday HR practices, including overseeing required safety training
  • Oversee Tablas Creek’s 401K plan in consultation with our advisors at Fisher Investments

Business Management and Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with local, state and federal government entities on permitting, licensing and compliance
  • Be Tablas Creek’s primary point of contact with legal representation
  • Oversee required state and federal reporting
  • Review contracts with growers, contractors, and vendors
  • Other duties and special project as needed and assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of HR experience, including benefits, on boarding, and employee relations support
  • Familiarity with leave administration and benefits compliance
  • Proficient in software applications commonly used in an office environment as well as ability to learn new applications. Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
  • Must possess knowledge of Federal and State employment laws
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field-or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
  • HR certification preferred but not required

Salary information: Starting salary range between $75,000 and $90,000 depending on skills and experience. This full-time position includes medical, dental and vision benefits, profit sharing, 401K matching, continuing education, and paid holidays/vacation.

Job location: This is an on-premise job at the Tablas Creek facility in Paso Robles, California.
