The high-quality but low-yielding 2024vintage allowed us to make our first-ever Panoplie Blanc, dedicated to Beaucastel’s important white grape, Roussanne, and like Panoplie, made from the top 3% of our white lots.
In 2024, we identified three lots of Roussanne (making up 70% of the blend) and one each of Grenache Blanc (25%) and Picpoul Blanc (5%) that we thought had the requisite character and intensity. The resulting wine is powerful but lovely, very Roussanne in character, with flavors of crème brûlée and baked pear,a nice moderate dose of sweet oak, and appealing pithiness at the end. Drink over the next 20-25 years.
Available to order through December 6th on the futures cart page
Tasting Notes
A powerful but lovely nose of caramel and honeycomb, nutmeg and white flowers. The mouth is intense and very Roussanne in character, with flavors of creme brulee and baked pear, a nice moderate dose of sweet oak, and appealing pithiness at the end that leaves a finish of lemon bar and salted butter.

Production Notes
The 2024 vintage began with our second consecutive wet winter, giving the vines good reserves for the growing season. After a normal budbreak and a cool first half of the summer, those reserves were tested by our warmest-ever July and above-average temperatures through October. That led to a compressed harvest that was largely done by the second week of October and yields roughly 20% below our long-term averages. The low yields and warm year combined to produce fruit with intense flavors and noteworthy vibrancy.
The grapes for our Panoplie Blanc were grown on our biodynamic and Regenerative Organic Certified estate vineyard.
The fruit was whole-cluster pressed and fermented with native yeasts. The Roussanne was fermented in neutral oak of various sizes: 60-gallon oak barrels, 170-gallon demi-muids, and 1200-gallon foudres. The Grenache Blanc was fermented in stainless steel and also in one foudre, and the Picpoul Blanc was fermented in stainless steel and a little neutral acacia wood. All the wines went through malolactic fermentation. The Panoplie Blanc was selected from the top 3% of the vintage's lots, blended, and returned to foudre in April 2025. It will age an additional 8 months in foudre until its bottling in December 2025.
